The Leatherhead Drama Festival was formed in 2004 by Richard Houghton who sadly passed away shortly after the first festival. Sir Michael Caine - a much loved local personality supported the festival by putting his name to the awards and has attended the final night of the first seven festivals, delighting the audience and performers and raising the overall profile of the event. The Drama Festival's curtain came down for the last time in 2019 and after Covid19 stopped the next two years from happening, it was decided to call time. In 2022 I produced a 240 page book crammed full of photographs from all 16 years (including some provided in 2019 by Mark Turner). Over the years a dedicated group of people worked hard to keep Leatherhead's Drama Festival going and their efforts put the town on the map in the drama world earning it the home of the largest Festival of it's kind in the UK - a fantastic achievement!
